The 2020 Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and Austin Health Perioperative Medicine Symposium “Exploring new heights of excellence in perioperative medicine” will be held from March 20-23 in Melbourne.
It will cover current best practice across a broad range of topics in perioperative medicine along with providing a range of workshops on Friday and Sunday of the program.
The scientific program will be held at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre on Saturday March 21.
In addition to the symposium there will be a number of workshops held on Friday, Sunday and Monday at The Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and Austin Health, Melbourne. These are hospital based workshops covering key skills and scenarios in medicine. Workshops range from cardiac arrest, CPET, simulation and transthoracic echo.
We have five international keynote speakers attending; Professor Adrian Gelb (US), Professor PJ Devereaux (Canada), Dr Carl Waldmann (UK), Professor Javier Garcia Fernandez (Spain) and Dr Claire Macaulay (Scotland). Local speakers will include Professor Guy Ludbrook, Professor Rinaldo Bellomo, Dr Nicholas Chrimes and Professor Karin Thursky.
Workshops will be held on Friday March 20, Sunday March 22 and Monday March 23 at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and Austin Health.

Workshop costs are at an additional price to the registration fee.
You are able register for workshops and not attend the Symposium on Saturday.

Participants in the ANZCA and FPM CPD program may claim this event under the Knowledge and Skills activity learning sessions. Certificates of attendance will be available for those claiming study leave.
The cardiac arrest, anaphylaxis, major haemorrhage and CICO workshops are recognised by the ANZCA and FPM Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Program for emergency response training.
