Overview
The 2021 Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and Austin Health Perioperative Medicine Symposium “Exploring new heights of excellence in perioperative medicine” will be held from 26 to 29 March.
It will cover current best practice across a broad range of topics in perioperative medicine along with providing a range of workshops on Friday, Sunday and Monday of the program.
The symposium includes a virtual meeting day on Saturday 27 March and optional workshops.
Please note to attend the workshops, you must register for the virtual symposium day.
Program
The scientific program will be held as an all day virtual meeting on Saturday 27 March and will cover a broad range of topics. The day will consist of pre-recorded sessions and live panel discussions.
In addition to the symposium there will be a number of workshops held on Friday, Sunday and Monday at The Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and Austin Health, Melbourne. These are hospital based workshops covering key skills and scenarios in medicine. Workshops range from cardiac arrest, CPET, simulation and transthoracic echo. Please refer to the program for the full list of workshops and the workshop summaries for further information.

For the virtual symposium we have five international keynote speakers attending; Professor Adrian Gelb (US), Professor PJ Devereaux (Canada), Dr Carl Waldmann (UK), Professor Javier Garcia Fernandez (Spain) and Dr Claire Macaulay (Scotland).

The cardiac arrest, anaphylaxis, major haemorrhage and CICO workshops are recognised by the ANZCA and FPM Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Program for emergency response training.
